Insurance coverage for OFWs now mandatory

The implementation of compulsory insurance coverage for agency-hired workers took effect November 8, 2010.

In addition to the present requirements for  processing/issuance of POEA Exit Clearance/Overseas Employment Certificate, a Certificate of Coverage (COC) indicating  compliance with requirements prescribed by Republic Act No. 10022, must be presented by the  licensed recruitment  agencies upon processing of documents of the OFWs.

The following are the accredited insurance providers by the lnsurance Commission as of this date.

1. Paramount Life and General Insurance Corporation
2. Philippine Charter Insurance Corporation
3. United Coconut Planters' Life Assurance Corporation
